we are happily to announce the Motto of the 19th International Basic Income Week Mo-Su 14th-20th September 2026 https://basicincomeweek.org/19th-international-basic-income-week-2026/ or www.facebook.com/events/913522401016748/ #basicincomeweek19 with:
“Basic Income: Secure Lives, Fearless Voices, True Democracy.”
Indeed, that’s the key: SECURE LIVES, thus FEARLESS VOICES and, as result – TRUE DEMOCRATY are what Unconditional and Universal Basic Income really means for the world. This key only is really able to open our mouths. Let’s dedicate a week of this year to it.
The motto was submitted and designed by Jaanus Nurmoja, Estonia (Rakvere / Tallinn), the main UBI advocate in Estonia, board member of MTÜ Kodanikupalga Ümarlaud Eestis https://kodanikupalk.ee Currently, their explanatory work is mainly focused on the possible positive impact of UBI on the birth rate. There is increasing awareness that low birth rates may threaten the long-term sustainability of the physical existence of their small nation, and therefore they must help the birth rate rise to the level necessary for population recovery. However, this is not possible without ensuring the basic livelihood of families. By ensuring livelihood security for each individual, UBI also ensures it for families through them. At motto voting February 2026 https://basicincomeweek.org/vote2026/ took part 63 voters for 22 countries.
We invite activists around the world to contribute to our action Week for Unconditional Basic Income. The Basic Income Week is a week of participation around the globe and we need YOU to join us.
Like last years we have 2 synchronized actions/events, where it would be nice if you participate:
– Wednesday 16th September 2026 “Count on Basic Income Photo Action” #countonbasicincome – make a photo and post it to your social media with the hashtag
– Friday 18th September 2026 “9th International Basic Income Beer” #basicincomebeer – go to a place where you have a drink, and can link up with other people who are doing the same thing at the same time
